Greek vase

I bought Barry M Nail Art Pen in Black, and I had two designs in mind straight away. The first was this greek vase type design that I've been wanted to do for ages. I've never attempted this before as I was unsure if I could get tiny enough lines with a brush.
I did a base colour of China Glaze Desert Sun. I used the nail art pen for all the details. I then topped it all off with Gosh Matte Effect Top Coat.
Obviously this design is not perfect. I will practice drawing the patterns on paper for a while before trying it again though.

Green on Green

I can't remember the last time I did an all green mani, so I felt that as it's one of my favourite colours I needed to do one.
I did a base colour of Essence Upper Green Side, with A England Saint George on the accent nail. I then stamped with Bundle Monster image plate BM-210 using A England Saint George, with Essence Upper Green Side on the accent nail. I topped it all of with China Glaze Fast Forward.
I was surprised with how well Upper Green Side stamped over Saint George. I love finding light colours that can be used for stamping over darker colours.

Upper Green Side has a lovely subtle blue shimmer in the bottle, but it doesn't show in the nail, it makes me sad.

Birthday nails!

Yes, as it's my birthday this post will be quite short. Here are my birthday nails, I did the usual ballons and bunting, but I made them a bit more me by adding dinos with party hats.
The colours I used are W7 White, Barry M Block Orange, Bright Purple, Spring Green, Nail Art Pen in Black, Sally Hansen Sky's The Limit, Essence Little Miss Sunshine, Upper Green Side, Nails Inc Culross Street, Accessorize Green Lagoon, and China Glaze Designer Sation, It's A Trap-eze.

Texture nail polish

I have finally tried a textured polish. Only about 5 years after everyone else. I bought the only polish I liked the look of from Opi's Oz collection; What Wizardry is this?
I went with a completely unoriginal idea for this polish. I did a base colour of Barry M Greenberry. I used hole reinforcers to mark off the half moon and painted What Wizardry Is This?
As you can see I didn't wait long enough to put the stickers on and it pulled on the base colour a little. Also I touched something, causing the polish to get pushed back on the middle finger. I do like this look though, maybe not the colours I used. I really want to try different textures on my nails now though.

Feeling Pink...

I've wanted a pink stamping polish for a while now, and when I was in Superdrug the other day I found a metallic pink by Miss Sporty so I bought it to see if it would stamp. It does stamp. It stamps beautifully! If anyone wants a metallic pink stamping polish, I'd grab this one from Miss Sporty, I can't remember the name but the number on it is 205
I used a base colour of Barry M Berry Ice Cream. I stamped using Miss Sporty 205 and Cheeky plate CH12. I did a gradient on the accent finger by sponging on Nails Inc Buckingham Street. I topped it all off with China Glaze Fast Forward.

Yes you only get one picture of this mani, even though I loved it. I had taken the mani off before checking the photos, and this was the best one.... It's an awful photo. I'm sorry.

Dinosaur frolicking in a meadow

I wanted to do a summery inspired mani, but I also wanted to do another dinosaur mani.... So as always I did both. This is in fact a mani of a cute little dino frolicking in a meadow. How cute is he?
I did a base colour of Barielle Swizzle Stixs, and then added the clouds and the sun with W7 White and Essence Little Miss Sunshine. I stamped on the dino from image plate Moyou 66 using Moyou Black. I added the grass using Essence Upper Green Side. Because I thought that it wasn't summery enough I added little flowers using Barry M Berry Ice Cream and Lemon Ice Cream. I topped it all off with China Glaze Fast Forward.
I used a cut down striping brush and a small and medium dotting tool for create this mani. I'm so glad I decided to do summery dino nails, these make me so happy! He just looks so happy running though the flowers.

Flowery Skittles

So the sun had finally shown itself here in Wales when I did these. It was still freezing and windy, but the sun was out. So I finally used some pastel colours, I feel I haven't used many pastel colours in ages!
I used Barry M Berry Ice Cream, Lemon Ice Cream, Mint Green, Barielle Swizzle Stixs (blue), and Sinful Colors Cloud 9 (orange). I stamping using BM-221 and Moyou White. I topped it all off with China Glaze Fast Forward.
I loved finally wearing pastel colours and not having them look to bright compared to the weather. I think these might be my go to spring colours. Although I don't have a pastel pink so I might have to get one.

Stamping Polish v W7 Polish

I usually use W7 Black and White for stamping, but White can have bald spots sometimes and Black takes on a greyish hue over lighter colours. I bought Moyou stamping polish in Black and White to see if they would be any better than the W7s.
I used W7 White and Black as the base coats so I could see how they looked over light and dark colours. I used Moyou on the Pinky and index and W7 on the middle and ring.
The Moyou Black is much more pigmented than the W7 which over white. The W7 is much lighter, and the lines aren't as crisp.
The white or each polish looks the same... I had to re-do this test to figure out which one was which. So it seems I didn't really need to buy the white stamping polish. Oh well, at least the white will last longer now I don't have to use it for stamping as well as regular polish.

Matte Lightning Stamping

I have another post showing Sinful Colors Savage today. Although I could not get the colour right, it looks so much more blue in these photos than it does in real life. It's a touch more green to me than it is in these photos.
I used one coat of Savage, and then I stamped images from Cheeky plate CH48 and Bundle Monster plate BM-305 using Barry M Silver Foil. I wanted to keep it matte so I used my Gosh Matte Effect Top Coat.
In doing this stamping, I realized that my stamping skills have gotten a bit better, as when I first started I could not get the design on my ring finger to stamp properly. I always managed to get bald spots, but it stamped fine here, so yay for improving skills!

Here's a bonus swatch of Savage before I stamped over it. This is one coat. Ahh, looks at it's wonderful matte perfection! Seriously, you need this polish.

Sinful Colors Stamping

I found out that Boots now stock Sinful Colors, and they had a 3 for 2 offer on when I went to buy some, score! So I bought three, one of which was Savage, a matte which I discovered can be used for stamping even over dark colours. I love this polish, it's a gorgeous matte teal, and the fact you can use it for stamping makes it even better. Plus it was only £1.99, bargain. I'm showing it to you all as a stamping polish today.
I used a base colour of, one coat of Hits Zeus over W7 Black. I stamped images from Bundle Monsters plates BM-312 and BM-305 using Sinful Colors Savage. I topped it all of with a coat of China Glaze Fast Forward.
I think savage will be one of my favourite stamping polishes for a while as I don't really have a colour this light that would look nice over black. Plus it's teal, which is fab! Teals are the best.

Zeus is also a gorgeous polish, but sheer as I would have had to use three coats to get full coverage. So I decided to layer it as it's in such a tiny bottle. Here's a photo showing it's wonderful holoness, it's a bit more holo than my camera picks up.

Multi-coloured Stamping

I've got yet another "inspired by" post for you today, this one is inspired by a stamping tutorial by Gold Speck Nails. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to give it a go.
I used a base colour of W7 White. The colours I used for the stamping were all Barry M. They were Cyan Blue, Bright Purple, Block Orange, Raspberry, and Spring Green. I used an image from Cheeky Image plate CH16. I topped it all of with a coat of China Glaze Fast Forward.
I love this look! I think when summer actually arrives to Wales (for about two days) I will be doing bright summery multi-colour stamp nails.

Purple Chevrons

Today I bring you a mani that was inspired by The Nailasaurus. I've had this mani saved in my favourites for ages, but had completely forgotten about it until now. I went with darker colours than she used, as even though it's supposed to be spring, it's still currently freezing here in Wales.
I did a base colour of A England Guinevere, I then added Opi Dutch Ya Just Love Opi at the tips and  then I added the grey chevrons using A England King Arthur. I topped it all off with a layer of China Glaze Fast Forward.
Although I'm happy with these (except for one finger... I looking at you wonky ring finger), compared to the Sams, mine could be used to be shame on my family... Maybe with a bit of practice I could improve my lines.

Dinosaur and Hits Poseidon

So I really can't get enough of this stamping plate, and decided to use it again. I also got four of the Hits No Olimpo collection in the mail, and I really wanted to use them. Although the weather wasn't too good when I took the pictures for this mani, so you can't see the wonderful holo effect today. It does show up a bit more than my camera managed to pick up. You can just about see tiny rainbows in these pictures, if you look very closely.

I put a coat of Hits Poseiden over Barielle Swizzle Stixs as it's quite sheer and a tiny bottle.  I then free handed the meteor using Beauty UK Golden Chestnut, A England King Arthur, Barry M Block Orange, Barry M Yellow, A England Perceval. I then stamped the dino from Moyou plate 66 in W7 Black, and added grass using A England Dragon. I topped everything off with a coat of China Glaze Fast Forward.

I used a cut down striping brush for all the freehand details. I'm quite proud of how the meteor came out, as I was worried it was going to be a blob of colours. Once again I need to work on my stamping placement, as I managed to cut off the dinos eye, but I had done it several times and this was the best placement I could get.
